Dogecoin has become one of the most popular cryptocurrencies over the past year, and it has now made its English Premier League debut.
Dogecoin logo appears on Watford’s jersey
The logo of Dogecoin has appeared on Watford FC’s jersey after the English premier league side partnered with Stake.com. This is the first time the meme-inspired cryptocurrency is making its way to the English premier league.
According to a report by The Athletic, the logo would appear on the team’s shirt for the new season. “The deal — a collaboration with main shirt sponsors Stake.com — will be worth in the region of £700,000 to the Premier League newcomers and could break their previous sleeve partnership with Bitcoin of £1 million if it gains global traction,” the report added.
Watford returns to the premier league after spending last season in the championship division. The Dogecoin logo appeared on Watford’s shirt for yesterday’s game, with the team winning 3-2 against Aston Villa.
Dogecoin closing in on $0.4
Dogecoin, similar to the other leading cryptocurrencies, has been slowly recovering from the losses it suffered earlier this year. DOGE is currently trading at $0.33 per coin and could aim for the $0.40 mark over the next few days.
DOGE is still up by nearly 8,000% over the past year, making it one of the top-performing cryptocurrencies during that period.
